GB eye nominated for this year’s Licensing Awards
GB eye are very excited this week after learning that they have been nominated for the 2010 Licensing Awards. GB eye have been shortlisted for the Best Licensed Home Decor Range for their superb framed 3D range of James Cameron’s Avatar wall art.

The prestigious Licensing Awards are recognised throughout the worldwide licensing community. Winners will be announced at the Licensing Awards Ball on Thursday 9th September at The Lancaster London Hotel.

James Cameron’s pioneering 3D movie with its incredible landscapes, colours and creatures translated extremely well onto the 3D lenticular poster format recreating the depth of vision and realism of the cinema experience. The success of the movie coincided perfectly with GB eye’s focus on improving their 3D range; coupled with a push on GB eye’s own range of quality frames this collection proved extremely popular with chains and retailers worldwide.

“With Avatar being such a huge worldwide success it is fantastic to be recognised for our work on this license. Avatar has complimented our 3D range perfectly and we’ll continue to focus development in this area.” Max Arguile, Licensing Manager.

This accolade strengthens GB eye’s resolve to continue developing new and existing product ranges to maintain its position as a market leader of licensed products.

GB eye raise over £4000 in charity 5-a-side football tournament
Friday 16th July saw the overwhelming success of GB eye's first ever charity event. Despite looming clouds and showers throughout the day a festive crowd turned out to watch 10 teams battle it out for supremacy on the field at Aurora Sports Centre near Sheffield.

To coincide with their annual summer party, GB eye invited suppliers and partners to take part in a 5 A Side football tournament in support of Sheffield based charity, Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice. Each of the teams were asked to contribute a donation to the charity in order to take part, further fund raising activities followed including an impressively stocked raffle and auction which saw a framed signed Chelsea shirt go for £255.

A marquee and grandstand area provided cover for the spectators as GB eye's own DJ created a festival atmosphere with a superb sound track and score announcements throughout the day.

Following a gruelling afternoon of tense qualifying matches, the final witnessed the host team GB eye take on the Bluebell Wood Allstars charity team. Fittingly Bluebell Wood took the only goal of the match and walked away with the trophy.

"The event went better than anyone could have expected, we had a superb turnout, everybody had a fantastic time and importantly everyone donated generously to Bluebell Wood. A big thanks to all contributors and individuals who made this happen!" Steven Birks, National Sales Manager and Event Manager

With the event so well attended and generous contributions received from key partners such as HMV, 20th Century Fox, Nickelodeon, Liverpool FC, Evolution Print and Deeset, GB eye have considered the event a resounding success and are already looking forward to plans for 2011.
